Basketball Legends Players: Why There Is No Tier List
Published · Updated · 2 min read
20 teams, three players each
The team picker in Basketball Legends cycles through 20 team emblems with the arrow buttons. Each team has three players, which gives 60 players in total. The players are cartoon characters with large heads. The game does not show any names for them, and it does not show any ratings or stats.
That is because there are none to show. In the game files every player you control uses the same skill settings, whatever team or face you choose. Speed, jump and shooting do not change from one player to the next. A tier list of the faces would rank nothing.
What your choice does change
The one real difference is the super. Each team's first player has Fast Break, the second has Mega Dunk and the third has Defence, and the player-select screen shows this under each player. So picking a player is really picking a super:
- Fast Break if you like to win the ball back. It is the only super that works when you do not have the ball.
- Mega Dunk if you want a near-certain basket when you have the ball late in a match.
- Defence if you are protecting a lead. It shields your rim for a few seconds.
The team only changes the look: emblem and kit. In Tournament the team you pick is the team you play the whole bracket with, so choose a look you like.
Picking players for 2 vs 2
In a 2 vs 2 match you click one player, and the game adds a different player from the same team as your teammate. Your teammate then gets the super of their own slot. So a 2 vs 2 side always holds two different supers, which is worth planning around. Fast Break plus Defence, for example, gives your side two ways to stop the other team.
Who controls whom
The player-select screen labels every slot so you can see who is human and who is the computer:
| Mode | Your side | Other side |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Player, 1 vs 1 | You | CPU |
| 1 Player, 2 vs 2 | You and a CPU teammate | Two CPUs |
| 2 Players, 1 vs 1 | Player 1 | Player 2 |
| 2 Players, 2 vs 2 | Player 1 and a CPU | Player 2 and a CPU |
| 2 Players, co-op | Player 1 and Player 2 | Two CPUs |
The co-op option, two people on one team against the computer, only appears in the 2 Players menu. The 2 Players button itself only shows on a computer with a keyboard. On a phone or tablet the menu hides it, because both players need keys.
Your CPU teammate
A computer teammate is not as strong as the hardest computer opponents. In the files it uses a middle skill level, and its super meter takes 35 seconds to fill, against 18 seconds for yours. Expect to score most of your side's points yourself, and treat the teammate as help on rebounds and defence.
